A plant operator at Naivasha based Keroche Breweries supervises the production of beer before the factory was closed down by KRA last month.

Keroche Breweries is set to reopen on Friday, July 29.

This is according to a statement released on Thursday by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

"Based on the directions of Honorable Justice Abigail Mshila, the Keroche factory will be opened tomorrow, July 29, 2022, at 11:00 am," the statement reads.

This comes four days after the Breweries sued the tax authority and Commissioner General Githii Mburu for disregarding a High Court order to re-open the plant.

KRA said Mshila directed that she will hear the contempt of court suit against the Commissioner General on August 2, 2022.

Mshila said she will only give the audience to the Authority's counsel to address the court if they reopen Keroche.

In June, KRA closed down the factory over tax arrears, making it the sixth closure in a year.

The company has accused KRA of being used to fight it politically and issuing agency notices to all its lenders

The factory has so far incurred losses running to millions of shillings.

Speaking on July 21, CEO Tabitha Karanja said the only way the company can be able to pay the taxes accrued, is if it is operational.

"We reiterate our commitment to pay all the taxes due and owing to KRA and we respectfully urge them to allow us to do the business that would unfailingly generate the money to pay off the owed taxes, the current taxes and the future taxes."
