Covid 19: Kenya records 44 new cases

The number of new Covid 19 patients on Thursday is 44 from a sample size of 2,058 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now at 2.1 per cent.

A statement by the Ministry of Health on Thursday showed that 37 of the cases are Kenyan while seven are foreigners.

Of those, 27 are males while 17 are females.

The youngest is a 22-year-old while the oldest is 64 years old.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the total confirmed positive cases are now 337,500 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,816,491.

"Today, 58 patients have recovered from the disease, all from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program," he added.

This pushed the total recoveries to 331,128 of whom 277,593 are from the Home Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,535 are from various health facilities countrywide.

No patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,672.

There are 55 patients currently admitted to the health facilities, while 601 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

"Another 13 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen," Kagwe said.

As of July 27 2022, a total of 20,001,745 vaccines have been administered across the country.

Of these, 17,284,631 are doses administered to the adult population.

Another 1,719,793 are doses administered to those between 15 and 17 years, 161,447 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 835,874 are booster doses.

The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
