Raila, Kalonzo pitch tents in Ukambani to consolidate votes

Raila said his administration will ensure education is free from nursery to University.

Azimio One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga says his government will fight poverty, diseases and illiteracy.

Raila said these are the three enemies ailing Kenyans.

He said the three were well articulated in their manifesto recently launched by the Alliance.

"Baba amekuja, mnafurahia? Tumeamua Leo tufike Machakos, tutembee Masinga kwa maombi ili Mungu abariki mambo yetu, " Raila said.

He spoke in Masinga after attending a mass at Masinga Catholic Church on Sunday.

The ODM chief was accompanied by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Junnet Mohammed, Machakos governor candidates Nzioka Waita (CCU), Wavinya Ndeti (Wiper), among others.

It was the first time Raila joined hands with Kalonzo in his Ukambani political campaigns since the Wiper leader returned to Azimio.

The two disagreed following Raila's choice of NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua as his running mate ahead of the August 9 polls.

"Juzi tulizindua manifesto yetu. Hiyo manifesto imeweka wazi mambo yetu ndani yake. Agano ya Wananchi wa Kenya. Contract with the people of Kenya," Raila said.

"Kwa upande wa ujinga, kila mtoto ambaye amezaliwa katika nchi yetu hata kama wazazi hawana pesa atapata fursa sawa kuanzia nursery, primary, tertiary, mpaka chuo kikuu," Raila

Raila said his administration will ensure free education is achieved from nursery to University. He said once children conclude their tertiary education, they will secure Good jobs.

"Wapate kazi nzuri, sio kusukuma wheelbarrow. Sisi tumeamua tunataka vijana wapate kazi nzuri. Na wale ambao wanataka kuanzisha kazi zao watapata mkopo kutoka kwenye hazina ya serikali na halipi chochote kwa miaka saba ili biasharazao zinawirivizuri ndo waanze kulipa Pole Pole, " he added.

He said youth will start benefiting from the funds next year.

Raila said uneducated youth in the jua kali sector will be issued with higher learning certificates so as to qualify for government tenders.

Raila said the Azimio government will also support jua kali, bodaboda, and mama mboga traders.

He said there will be more industries in counties to improve value addition to agricultural products.
