Kenya Railways introduces night rides to Kisumu

The services will be offered every Friday and Sunday.

Kenya Railways Corporation has announced that passengers can now travel at night to and from Kisumu. 

They released a statement on their Twitter account on Tuesday, which stated that the services will begin on Friday, June 10. 

Passengers booking from Nairobi will depart at 6.30 pm and arrive at 6.30 am.

On the other hand, passengers in Kisumu can board the train at 6.30 pm and arrive in Nairobi twelve hours later. 

The services will be offered every Friday and Sunday. 

In December 2021, the company commenced an 11-hour train ride from Nairobi to Kisumu. 

The departure time was initially set at 6 am and the arrival time at Nakuru was at 11.30 am.

Afterwards, the train would proceed to Kisumu and arrive at 6.20 pm. 

At the time, passengers were being charged Sh600 for economic class and Sh2,000 for first class.
