Waruguru’s hopes dashed as she loses in UDA primaries

Unlike ODM which uses the party register for nominations, UDA uses the IEBC register.

Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru appears to be the latest casualty, as she loses in the just-concluded nominations for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in the Laikipia East constituency.

Waruguru who garnered 5,595 votes was angling for the UDA ticket has been floored by her rival  Laikipia East MP Amin Deddy who appeared to have more than double what the Woman rep got at 12,723.

Last month, Waruguru picked a fight with Deddy whom she accused of perpetuating politics of intimidation and harassment.

She alleged that the MP was scared of her beauty and has resorted to destroying her posters and banners within the constituency.

Last November, Waruguru officially announced her future political plans by joining UDA and was officially received weeks later by Deputy President William Ruto.

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations took place on Thursday in various sections of the country in Kenya. 

Unlike ODM which uses the party register for nominations, UDA uses the IEBC register.

ODM party also decided to conduct its nominations on different days spread across one month while UDA set 14th April 2022 as the day for all nominations.
