Still in Western, an ODM Member of Parliament was jolted when party officials appeared to have endorsed his rival during a meeting in his constituency. ODM was receiving politicians who had defected from other parties and one of them was the MP’s rival in the last two elections. The MP is a party official at the constituency but receiving the defectors were the national officials. The officials asked residents to embrace the newcomers and rally behind them wholeheartedly. The legislator is said to have been uncomfortable with the remarks until recently when it became clear that his rival will not contest the parliamentary seat in August.
