Ford Asili party is set to unveil businesswoman Grita Muthoni as its presidential candidate in the August 9, elections.

Speaking during the declaration of her bid at Serena Hotel on Sunday, Muthoni said Kenyans deserve a competent leader who understands the needs of Kenyans.

The businesswoman further said the party will soon hold NDC to endorse her bid.

Grita urged Kenyans to avoid being used by politicians promising heaven yet they deliver nothing.

She said it's time for Kenya to advance and compete with other developing countries.

"I'm here announcing my bid as the best presidential candidate on Ford Asili ticket. I will liberate Kenyans from bad leadership" she said.

Grita joins a list of many candidates who have expressed interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She is expected to face off with ODM leader Raila Odinga who is the Azimio la Umoja flagbearer and deputy president William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

President Uhuru is campaigning for Raila's bid.

Grita dismissed claims that the presidential contest is a two-horse race between Raila and Ruto.

She castigated the Jubilee government for unnecessary borrowing saying she looks forward to 'restoring' the country's economy.

Grita said her government will focus on empowerment of societies and the youths in general.
