A road accident involving a school bus left 44 students and four teachers of Thur-Gem high School injured on Thursday evening.

The school bus was involved in the accident at Mamboleo along Kisumu Kakamega road.

The school bus was from the Bukura area heading back to Thur-Gem school in Nyakach when it had an accident.

The bus, according to eyewitnesses, lost control and landed in a ditch within the Coptic area.

The students who were writhing in pain and screaming were assisted by locals who pulled them out of the vehicle.

Speaking to the media at the scene, Kisumu central OCPD Anthony Maina said a total of 44 students had boarded the bus together with four teachers.

Maina said the injured were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
