Governance expert Brian Weke.

From where I sit, President Uhuru Kenyatta is a citizen of this country.

As such,  he is allowed to hold any meeting within the Republic of Kenya — whether developmental, political or for any other reason.

If it means campaigning for anybody, including ODM leader Raila Odinga, then he is within his rights as a Kenyan citizen to do so.

The President's term is coming to an end. What he simply needs to tell Kenyans is that whether his preferred successor wins or loses, he will hand over power graciously to the person who wins.

A lot of lies have been told about the development record of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his administration.

So, there is nothing wrong with him going to the people who elected him and telling them  this is what I have been able to do.

It is true Deputy President William Ruto has made inroads in Mt Kenya and the entire Central Kenya region.

And if the President is planning to visit the region, then it will be interesting to see how the politics of the region will pan out.

At the moment, Central Kenya does not have a kingpin. And I highly doubt that kingpin is William Ruto.

There is no outright leader in Mt Kenya and I highly doubt if someone from Uasin Gishu will be a kingpin in the Mt Kenya region.

This is politics and politics has started. Let us see how it unfolds but the truth is, Uhuru Kenyatta still has a lot of say in Central.

As we speak, Uhuru is still the kingpin of the Kikuyu community.

We remember when former Minister John Michuki said that anyone who wishes to speak to Kikuyu community must do so through Uhuru Kenyatta.

I am yet to hear any of another meeting where Kikuyus have sat down and appointed another person to replace Uhuru as their kingpin and spokesman.

I can tell you that there is a lot that will happen not only in Mt Kenya but also in other parts of the country as well before the  general election.
