Bank of Uganda Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile has died in Kenya while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital.

In a statement, the bank announced that Mutebile died at around 5am on Sunday.

“Further announcements will be made in due course. The bank of Uganda family together with his family and friends joins the nation in mourning his loss,” the statement read.

Mutebile was admitted to hospital on December 31, 2021 after he collapsed due to complications related to diabetes.

He had been in and out of hospital since last year.
