The latest figures from the Ministry of Health show that the positivity rate has dropped to 8.9 per cent.
This is after 624 people tested positive for coronavirus from a sample size of 7,045 tested in the last 24 hours.
In a statement on Saturday, health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that from today’s cases, 560 are Kenyans while 64 are foreigners. 330 males and 294 are females.
The youngest is a four-month-old child while the oldest is 97 years.
The total confirmed positive cases are now 317,324 and cumulative tests conducted are 3,143,862.
Distribution
Nairobi leads with 216 cases, Siaya 64, Nakuru 48, Kiambu 34, Mombasa 29, Nyeri 27, Bungoma 18, Meru 18, Uasin Gishu 13, Busia 12, Kilifi 12, and Nyamira 10.
Kajiado 9, Murang’a 9, Nyandarua 9, Isiolo 7, Kakamega 7, Makueni 7, Marsabit 7, Kericho 6, Kirinyaga 6, Kisumu 6, Turkana 6, Laikipia 4, West Pokot 4, Baringo 3, Kitui 3, Machakos 3, Nandi 3, Tharaka Nithi 3, Trans Nzoia 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Garissa 2, Homa Bay 2, Kisii 2, Kwale 2, Samburu 2, while Bomet, Embu, Lamu, Migori, Narok, and Vihiga recorded single cases each.
Kagwe said 1,144 patients have recovered from the disease, 929 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 215 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stand at 281,343.
Also, six patients have succumbed to the disease, all of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the month of January 2022.
This pushes the cumulative fatalities to 5,488.
A total of 1,059 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 13,993 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
Forty-three patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 41 of them on ventilatory support while two are on supplemental oxygen.
Another 220 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 215 of them are in the general wards. Five patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination campaign
As of January 14, 2022, a total of 11,067,257 vaccines had been administered across the country. Of these, 6,193,498 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 4,756,375.
Another 28,951 are doses administered to those between 15 to 18 years while 88,433 are booster doses.
The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 17.5 per cent.
