Love, peace and harmony. These are some of the pillars that should guide us as we approach the election.

We should peacefully co-exist and remain as a family despite our political differences.

It would be unfortunate to destroy what everyone has worked hard for because of political differences.

Exercising one's democratic right and accepting the result should be the political maturity we should be looking for.

Echoing the words of former minister Gorge Saitoti “there comes a time when a nation is greater than an individual”, we should all focus on making our country great.

This is achievable if we remain united, practice peaceful campaigns, peaceful elections and most importantly shun politics that will create tension.

As we get into the campaigning mood, let's remember to observe Covid-19 rules as directed by the Ministry of Health.

Peaceful campaigns and elections will result in a peaceful country especially at this time when we are trying to revive our economy.

We should therefore understand that violence subsequently affects the entire system and consequently affect our lives.

Politicians, church leaders and other stakeholders should encourage peace among citizens to ensure we all live in harmony despite individuals political views.

Leaders seeking elective posts should share their agendas to the electorates without inciting and creating tension, those spreading hate speech should be arrested and charged.

We should shun hate but embrace and love each other.
