City Hall to hold final public input on fiscal paper

Public will give views on priorities before he proposed budget is presented.

Nairobi county’s second government on Tuesday will hold is final public participation forum on the Fiscal Paper for the proposed budget for FY 2022-23.

The current budget is Sh39.6 million. 

At this stage, budget priorities are contained in the fiscal strategy paper 

The ward-based subcounty forums will be at different venues from 10am across all 17 subcounties to get residents' views.

Acting county Secretary Jairus Musumba in a notice said the forums welcome members of the public, civil society organisations, faith-based organisations and the private sector. They will help formulate fiscal strategy for the next year.

In Dagoretti North, the venue will be the Muslim Primary School Hall; Dagoretti South at Waithaka Social Hall; Embakasi Central  at Kayole 2 Social Hall and Embakasi North at Dandora Three Social Hall.

In Embakasi South, the venue will be Mukuru Health Centre (Imara Daima); Embakasi East at Embakasi Social Hall; Embakasi West  at subcounty administration office in Umoja 1; and in Makadara at Jericho Social Hall.

In Ruaraka, the venue will be he Ruaraka Resource centre-CDF office; Roysambu at Kahawa West Marking parking area at Kasarani Maji Mazuri grounds; Kamkunji at Eastleigh North Social Hall; Langata at Karen Social Hall; Mathare at Undugu Social Hall; Mabatini, Kibra at Joseph Kang'ethe Social Hall in Woodley; Westlands at Parklands Day Nursery school and in Starehe at Kariokor Social Hall.

MCAs representing all the 85 wards will be present and they have urged residents to attend.

The public will be expected to give their views and opinions on the fiscal strategy and hear the government's side.

A county fiscal strategy paper is the county's strategy document for the budget. It provides the link between the Government's overall policies implemented through the annual budget.

The programs and policies reflect the concerns of Nairobi people.
