The Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai’s attention has been caught by the video that has gone viral on social media showing the traffic police officer being pushed by the vehicle.
In the video, the traffic cop is seen arguing with the driver who was a civilian but he continued to drive despite seeing the cop standing in front of the vehicle trying to stop him.
On Sunday, Mutyambai said that the preliminary investigations have revealed that the civilian in the video is an officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
The IG added that the detective has been arrested and will be arraigned.
Mutyambai said that the DCI officer will be charged for the offences of driving under the influence of alcohol and assaulting a police officer.
The IG added that the processes are also in place for further administrative action.
