Virus cases rise to 35,793 after 190 more test positive

Kenya on Friday recorded 190 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country's total to 35,793.

This was from a sample of 4,609 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative tests to 490,445. 

A statement by the Ministry of Health confirmed that all were Kenyans except eight who were foreigners.

 
 

Age-wise, the youngest was a one-year-old infant while the oldest was 85 years old. 

Another 395 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 22,047.

A total of 116 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 279 were discharged from various health facilities.

The number of fatalities rose to 616 after another four patients succumbed to the virus.

The new cases recorded on Friday were from Nairobi with 65 cases, Kitui 27, Mombasa 16, Uasin Gishu 13, Embu 10, Kisii 9, Garissa 6, Kajiado 6, Kiambu 6, Machakos 4, Nakuru 4, Meru 4, Kericho 4, Narok 4, Kisumu 2, Trans Nzoia 2, Bomet 2, Busia 2 while Murang'a, Bungoma, Kakamega and Kilifi had 1 case each.
