A  Dagoretti woman has denied defiling a four-year-old girl with a vibrator.

Yvonne Mimamo was charged on Friday before Kibera principal resident magistrate Florence Mutuku.

She is accused of defiling the child with a sex toy on different dates between September 1 last year and March 31 in Dagoretti, Nairobi county.

Mimamo was also charged with touching the child indecently.

According to the prosecution, the accused lured the child into her house and defiled her, which led to the girl catching an infection.

The prosecution said the child's mother realised her daughter was often touching her private parts and asked her why.

The child told her their neighbour, Mimamo, had been inserting a toy into her private parts.

The prosecution said the child was taken to Nairobi Women's Hospital, where a doctor confirmed she had been defiled.

The doctor advised the child's mother to report the matter to a nearby police station after treatment.

She reported the matter to Parklands police station and the suspect was arrested.

Mimamo requested the court to drop the charges, saying the police violated her rights by keeping her in custody for more than the constitutional limit.

She was released on Sh400,000 bond pending hearing on July 23. The case will be mentioned on April 4.
