Weightlifter Adede ends up ninthn in Rio

Kenya’s James Adede faded to the ninth position in his 94kg category as the weightlifting programme ended at Riocentro- Pavillion 2 on Saturday. The 29-year-old Adede, weighing 92kg, managed 116kg in the snatch after lifting 112kg in his first attempt. In clean and jerk, he lifted 140kg but failed in his attempt to lift 146kg twice.

Kenya’s James Adede faded to the ninth position in his 94kg category as the weightlifting programme ended at Riocentro- Pavillion 2 on Saturday.

The 29-year-old Adede, weighing 92kg, managed 116kg in the snatch after lifting 112kg in his first attempt.

In clean and jerk, he

lifted 140kg but failed in his attempt to lift 146kg twice.

Ukrainian Hoza Volodymyr won gold medal. He lifted 170kg following a successful 165kg in the first attempt. He was equally impressive in clean and jerk, where he improved with every step. Hoza, 20, lifted 195kg, 200kg, and 205kg in his first three attempts. Korea’s Park Hamwoong with 165kg in snatch and 202kg in clean and jerk settled for silver while United States’ James Farris Kendrick took bronze with 160kg in snatch and 197kg

in clean and jerk.

After his showing Adede said he was happy with the experience gained and promised to build up on this performance as he focuses on the future.

He said facilities in Kenya have been their main undoing and appealed to the government to give weight-lifting the support it needs to rise up to global competitiveness.
