AN aspirant in the just concluded LSK elections yesterday wrote to the electoral commission, which oversaw the polls, seeking a recount of votes over “irregularities”.

The LSK elections held on Thursday saw lawyer Isaac Okero elected the new President and Faith Waigwa his deputy.

But Jeniffer Shamalla, who lost to Waigwa, wants the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission to halt the release of certificates until a countrywide audit of the results is done.

She wants review of the voting results of the President and deputy positions.

In a letter to Arnold Wafula, the IEBC returning officer, Shamalla said the elections were not free and fair and therefore not credible.

She accused the IEBC of being in constant communication with aspirants and other stakeholders.
