Kenya’s first gospel music awards show, Groove Awards, is celebrating ten years of existence. The gala set for June 1 at the KICC will award a total of 31 stars nominated this year. On Wednesday night, they hosted a nomination party where the 31 categories were announced.
“Gospel music has the power to deliver positive messages that encourage the youth. Safaricom’s continued commitment to this property demonstrates our continuing desire to support one of the fastest growing and most widely accepted music forms in Kenya,” said Eric Acholla Safaricom’s head of marketing.
He added that, “Due to its ability to draw Kenyan youth, Groove Awards with Safaricom is one of the biggest music properties we use to drive the youth agenda and reach out to our customers. Starting next week, the nominated artists will start a cross-country tour. Kakamega, Eldoret, Nakuru, Karatina and Machakos are some of the counties that will host the Groove Tours.”
