Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has described the death of Kabete MP George Muchai as “such an inexplicable and tragic loss for the country, especially in the development front”.

He said Muchai contributed to development and was involved in numerous projects in the county.

The fist-time MP, his two bodyguards and driver were killed by a gunman on Saturday morning along Kenyatta Avenue.

“Muchai was dedicated to the people of Kabete and we pray to God for strength and courage during these trying times. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends,” Kabogo said.

The governor was condoling with the family of the trade unionist at their home in Kamulu on Saturday.

Kabogo said he received the news of Muchai’s murder with “utter shock and disbelief”.

He said Muchai is the second MP from the county to die in bizarre circumstances.

Gatundu South MP Jossy Ngugi collapsed and died at his home on May 21 last year.

He asked the government and security agencies to expedite investigations.
