Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu has named four businessmen as the individuals behind Airport View Housing Ltd, the company alleged to be

behind the grabbing of the Lang’ata Primary school playground.

Speaking to journalists at her offices on Thursday, Ngilu said

Mandip Singh Amrit, Manjit Singh Amrit, Harbans Singh Amrit and Kamal Prakash Amrit

are directors of the company. She said Harbans owns 3000 shares of the company

while Mandip and Kamal each own 1000 shares.

Manjit has no shares in the company. The Lands CS further said that the Nairobi County government has admitted that it had authorised the building of the wall that demarcated the playground based on fake documents. She said

this is “an issue that makes us look bad.”

The Lands CS had indicated on Wednesday

that she would name the private developer behind the grabbing of the Lang’ata Primary school play ground if President Uhuru Kenyatta continued to pressure her.

Ngilu and National Lands Commission chair Muhammad Swazuri had come under pressure from the President after police lobbed tear-gas at the pupils and activists while responding to a protest against the land-grab at their school on Monday. Uhuru said the NLC and the Lands ministry will be penalised for the Lang’ata playground saga.

“I believe there is a name behind the name, we shall soon reveal the names behind the name. By the way, if the President continues to push me, I will name and resign,” Ngilu said in response.

She was speaking shortly after she addressed journalists at Lang’ata Road Primary School, where she was overseeing the demolition of the perimeter wall put up by the alleged grabber.

She added that the same faces who had grabbed the Lang’ata school land had also grabbed another piece of land at the entrance of Wilson Airport.
