First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has embarked on a campaign to fight new HIV/AIDS infections and increase access to maternal and child health services. The First Lady
hosted a breakfast meeting today for corporates,donor community and individuals to officially launch "Beyond Zero Foundation," a platform which she intends to reach the disadvantaged groups countrywide by mobilizing resources to improve healthcare.
The First Lady announced that she will participate in this year's London Marathon slated for April 13 to create global awareness on health challenges facing Kenya especially women and children. She will also seek local support through the foundation by hosting the First Lady's Half Marathon on March 9.
In her speech Mrs Kenyatta said in Kenya over 5000 women die due to pregnancy complications while over 100 000 children under the age of five died in 2012 before their fifth birthday due to preventable diseases.
