President William Ruto inspected on Tuesday the ongoing construction of the 257km Lamu-Ijara-Garissa (A10) road, part of the LAPSSET corridor development project in Fafi, Garissa County, as part of his development tour of the North Eastern region.
The Sh17.9 billion project is scheduled for completion early next year.
The project is expected to significantly provide an alternative transport corridor, support regional integration, improve security and provide an evacuation route at Lamu Port.

Once completed, the road will strengthen links between Garissa, Ijara and Lamu counties while improving access to essential services such as healthcare, education and markets.
The inspection forms part of the government's broader infrastructure agenda aimed at addressing historical marginalisation in Northern Kenya through strategic investments in roads, water, energy and housing projects.
Speaking during the tour, Ruto said improved infrastructure remains central to unlocking the economic potential of the region and integrating it more closely with the rest of the country.
