President William Ruto has officially launched Wajir County Teaching and Referral Hospital Accident and Emergency unit.
The Wajir County Teaching and Referral Hospital Accident and Emergency unit stands as a major milestone in the ongoing transformation of healthcare services in northern Kenya.
The facility is designed to enhance the county’s capacity to handle medical emergencies, trauma cases and critical care needs, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances in search of specialised treatment.
Equipped with modern medical infrastructure, the Accident and Emergency unit is expected to improve emergency response times and provide timely life-saving interventions for patients involved in road accidents, disease outbreaks and other medical emergencies.
The facility will also strengthen the referral hospital’s role as a regional healthcare hub serving not only Wajir County but also neighbouring counties in the North Eastern region.
For many years, residents of Wajir and the wider region faced challenges accessing specialised emergency medical services due to inadequate infrastructure and limited healthcare resources.
The new building is expected to bridge this gap by providing a modern environment for emergency care and treatment.
