President William Ruto on Tuesday presided over the ninth edition of the Tobong’u Lore Festival in Lodwar, Turkana County, calling for stronger collaboration to preserve and harness Kenya’s cultural heritage for national development.
The President urged national and county elders, cultural practitioners, the private sector, and development partners to work together to safeguard the country’s diverse traditions, saying cultural heritage should deliver tangible social and economic benefits to communities.

He also emphasised the role of indigenous knowledge and practices in advancing climate action and environmental conservation.
During the event, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the Home of Humankind project in Turkana, which will feature a world-class human origins museum and a science park.
He said the project is expected to transform the
region into a global hub for scientific research, tourism, and investment,
positioning Kenya as the home of humankind.
