President William Ruto on Tuesday presided over the ninth edition of the Tobong’u Lore Festival in Lodwar, Turkana County, calling for stronger collaboration to preserve and harness Kenya’s cultural heritage for national development.

The President urged national and county elders, cultural practitioners, the private sector, and development partners to work together to safeguard the country’s diverse traditions, saying cultural heritage should deliver tangible social and economic benefits to communities.

Ruto said Kenya’s cultural assets could be leveraged to strengthen tourism as a key driver of jobs, enterprise, and inclusive economic growth. He also emphasised the role of indigenous knowledge and practices in advancing climate action and environmental conservation.
