Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli on Wednesday paid a courtesy call to the labour CS Florence Bore on Wednesday.
Atwoli was accompanied by the Central Organisation of Trade Unions executive board members held discussions with the CS and the PS Department of Labour and Skills Development Geoffrey Kaituko.
Key on the agenda was the welfare of Kenyan workers and the need to improve the welfare of workers and the labour sector in general.
The CS further committed to work with Cotu and affiliate unions for the betterment of workers' welfare and ensure an updated legislative framework towards the realisation of this.
Cotu has in the recent past committed to ensuring workers affected by technology have the necessary skills to take up technical jobs instead of massive layoffs.
Atwoli expressed concern that the increased use of technology in Africa including Kenya, especially mechanisation, continues being a great challenge for unions.
The union has also pledged to ensure employment terms and conditions of employees are improved this year.
Atwoli has further said he will work with the Kenya government, employers and other solidarity partners to ensure the ILO C190 is ratified.
