Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday held a consultative meeting on the drought situation in the country.
In a statement, Gachagua said the government is committed to implementing various initiatives to intervene in the ongoing drought.
"We have mapped out the next phase of intervention following the December short rains to ensure affected counties get food and water for the people and livestock," he said.
He said the government is initiating short-term solutions as they implement long-term solutions.
Other leaders present include Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, East African Community CS Rebecca Miano, Interior CS Kithure Kindiki and Tourism CS Peninna Malonza.
