President Uhuru Kenyatta joined other regional heads of state on Friday to launch the 42.4 kilometre East African Arusha Bypass road in Arusha town, Tanzania.
The presidents who attended include Sheikh Mohamud (Somalia), Yoweri Museveni (Uganda) Samia Suluhu (Tanzania) and Evariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi).

The road starts at Ngaramtoni and crosses Dodoma road at Kisongo before ending at Usa River Township.
The new by-pass road will relieve cargo pressure from the busy Moshi-Arusha road.
It will enable seamless flow of cargo from Mombasa port joining the Central Corridor at Singida.
The road will help to decongest Arusha Central Business District (CBD) helping to spur growth of the town that hosts the EAC headquarters.
