The activists from the Queer community in Kenya held their protest on Thursday in Nairobi following comments made by Education CS George Magoha regarding gay students.
During their peaceful demonstration, the activists said that primary and high school students have little to no idea of what sexuality is and are still learning to understand their emotions.
"How will they understand their growth and development when the one supposed to guide them bans and excludes them from learning?" One of the activists posed.
They matched to the Ministry of Education headquarters to express their displeasure with Magoha’s comments.
Media personality and LGBTQ activist Makena Njeri who joined them said that it is not easy being a queer Kenyan child in school.
The activists said that the banning of queer kids from boarding schools amounts to the marginalisation of the LGBTQ community.
The activists said they will be pushed to the out of the society where poverty, crime and inequality lie.
