The government’s move to lift the ban barring international charity Marie Stopes from providing abortion services was a step in the right direction.

Pregnant women and girls were relying on expensive and unreliable over-the-counter pills, toxic chemicals and other homemade remedies prescribed by quacks.

According to Marie Stopes, every day, 320 Kenyan women are hospitalised and seven die as a result of dangerous backstreet abortions.

The Constitution states that abortion is illegal unless a woman’s life or health is in danger. However, according to Biblical teachings, God gave human beings the duty to procreate and fill the earth. You be the judge now.

It is now a humanitarian choice lawmakers have to make based on statistics taken from daily incidents.
