A foreign national has been captured on camera allegedly assaulting uniformed police officers inside a report office at a police station along the coast, moments after being arrested for allegedly attacking his girlfriend in a hotel room.

According to police, the suspect was detained following multiple offences, including assault, malicious property damage, and creating a disturbance at a hotel facility where he was staying.

In a video seen by The Star, the visibly intoxicated suspect, dressed in shorts, is seen confronting and attacking officers on duty. He hurls insults and at one point blows mucus through his nostrils toward one of the officers.

Despite his violent outburst, the two officers—a man and a woman—remain calm, maintaining their composure as the suspect moves erratically around the report office.

Police reports indicate that the suspect was arrested after hotel staff raised the alarm about a violent disturbance involving a guest who had allegedly assaulted his partner inside their room.

Responding officers found that the hotel’s management and security team had already rescued the woman, who was rushed to the hospital for treatment. She is said to have sustained injuries during the assault.

The report further stated that the suspect had barricaded himself inside the room and caused damage to property before opening the door after a prolonged standoff with police. Once officers gained entry, they subdued and arrested him without further incident.

A quick search conducted after his arrest reportedly led to the recovery of a whitish substance suspected to be narcotic drugs. The suspect, who appeared intoxicated, was taken into custody and escorted to the station for booking.

At the police station, the situation escalated when the man turned violent, attacking officers on duty as captured by the CCTV footage. Law enforcement sources described the suspect as uncooperative and highly intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Police said the man will face several charges, including assault causing actual bodily harm, malicious damage to property, creating a disturbance, possession of suspected narcotic drugs, and misconduct within a police building.

The suspected drugs have been forwarded to the government chemist for analysis to determine their composition.

Authorities have launched investigations into the case and emphasised that the assault of law enforcement officers performing their duties constitutes a serious offence under Kenyan law.

The incident has drawn public concern online after footage of the confrontation surfaced, showing the restraint displayed by the officers even under provocation.

Investigations are ongoing.
