Kenya records eight deaths, 134 new Covid cases

Kenya on Friday recorded 134 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 251,803, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,047 recording a positivity rate of 2.2 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 2,630,712.

Kagwe said that there are 612 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,608 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 31 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 15 of whom are on ventilatory support and 16 on supplemental oxygen.

Another 202 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with197 of them in general wards and five in High Dependency Units.

Meanwhile, 142 patients have recovered from the disease with 93 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 49 are from various health facilities country wide.

Total recoveries now stand at 245,077 of whom 198,000 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 47,077are from various health facilities countrywide.

VACCINATION

4,406,433 vaccines have so far been administered across Kenya. Of these, 3,242,809 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 1,163,624. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 4,3 per cent.
