Kenya loses 21 more to Covid as 631 recover

Kenya on Monday recorded 148 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 172,639, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 2,163 recording a positivity rate of 6.8 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,836,410.

The country's fatalities have risen to 3,308 after another 21 patients succumbed to the disease on diverse dates.

Kagwe said that there are 1,147 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 4,802 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 102 patients are in ICU, out of which 26 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 95 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 88 are in general wards and seven in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 631 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 496 were from the Homebased care program while 135 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 118,226.

The CS said 975,835 people have so far been vaccinated countrywide. Out of this, 13,194 have received their second dose.
