Kenya records 829 new virus cases, 91 recoveries

•Kagwe said that there are 566 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 1,694 patients are on the home-based care programme.

Kenya on Thursday recorded 829 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 111,185, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,239 recording a positivity rate of 13.2 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,352,126.

The country's fatalities have risen to 1,899 after another patient succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that there are 566 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 1,694 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 91 patients are in ICU, out of which 22 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 28 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 26 are in general wards and two in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 91 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 47 were from the Homebased care program while 44 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 87,994.

From the new cases reported on Wednesday, 775 are Kenyans while 54 are foreigners.

In terms of gender, 490 are males while 339 are females and the youngest in a one-year-old child and the oldest is 87.

407 cases are in Nairobi, Kiambu 82, Machakos 81, Meru 49, Nakuru 43, Uasin Gishu 26, Busia 20, Embu 18, Mombasa 17, Kajiado 14, Tharaka Nithi 9, Laikipia 8, Nyandarua 8, Kakamega 7, Kilifi 7, Bungoma 5, Kisumu 5, Homa Bay 4, Murang’a 3, Makueni 3, Kisii 2, Kitui 2, Migori 2, Nandi 2, Nyeri 2, Trans Nzoia 1, Vihiga 1 and Elgeyo Marakwet 1.
