4 more succumb to Covid-19 as 105 test positive

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that 105 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

In a statement on Monday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that the new cases were picked from 3,573 samples.

This brings the total cases in the country to 104,306 and the cumulative tests stand at 1,269,396.

The CS said that from the cases, 88 are Kenyans while 17 are foreigners. Also, 72 are males and 33 are females.

The youngest is 11 years old while the oldest is 82.

Kagwe said that 49 patients have recovered from the disease, where 34 are from home-based care and isolation care while 15 are from various health facilities.

The total number of recoveries stands at 85,626.

Four people have also lost their lives, raising the number of deaths related to the virus to 1,827.

Fifty-one patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 23 of whom are on ventilatory support and 22 on supplemental oxygen.

Four patients are on observation and another nine are separately on supplementary oxygen, all the nine are in general wards.

From the new cases, Nairobi has 69, Kiambu 12, Laikipia 5, Kajiado 4, Mombasa 3, Machakos 3, Nakuru 2, Nyeri 2, Uasin Gishu 2, and Kericho, Kwale, Kisumu and Mandera reported single cases.
