Kenya on Thursday recorded 1,459 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 74,145, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 10,146 recording a positivity rate of 14.3 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 815,040. 

 

The county's fatalities have risen to 1,330 after another 17 patients succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that there are 1,116 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country.

Another, 6232 patients are in the home-based care programme.

A total of 59 patients are in ICU, out of which 27 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 83 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 67 are in general wards and 16 in the HDU. 

Meanwhile, 780 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 690 were from the Homebased care program while 90 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 50,658.

 

From the new cases reported on Thursday, 1,419 are Kenyans while 40 are foreigners.

In terms of gender, 835 are males while 624 are females and the youngest in a four-month-old infant and the oldest is 97.

Nairobi leads with 472, Kiambu 311, Mombasa 108, Laikipia 63, Uasin Gishu 53, Busia 49, Kisumu 48, Nakuru 36, Kericho 33, Kisii 29, Kakamega 29, Marsabit 17, Murang'a 16, Nyamira 16, Kajiado 15, Garissa 13, Nandi 12, Kitui 12.

Nyeri 11, Machakos 11, Siaya 10, Bungoma 10, Turkana 8, Kirinyaga 8, Kilifi 6, Bomet 5, Trans Nzoia 4, Homabay 3, Makueni 2, Taita Taveta 2, Kwale 2, Isiolo 1 and Tharaka Nithi 1.
