Curve flattening? Kenya records 48 new virus cases, 176 recoveries

The number of fatalities rose to 624 after two more patients succumbed.

Kenya on Monday recorded one of the lowest figures in recent months after the Health ministry confirmed 48 new cases of Covid-19.

This raised the country's total to 36,205 from a sample of 1,081 tested in the last 24 hours.

Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi confirmed that all were Kenyans with 31 being male and 17 females.

 
 
 

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing from Afya House, Mwangangi said age-wise, the youngest was a 12 -year-old infant while the oldest was 75 years old. 

Mombasa leads in the daily positivity rate, recording 20 cases in the last 24 hours.

Other counties with new cases include; Nairobi 15, Tharaka Nithi four, Kiambu two, Kilifi two and Homabay one.

Another 176 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 23,243.

A total of 45 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 131 were discharged from various health facilities.
