The Orange party has embarked on an ambitious recruitment drive targeting to enlist 150,000 new members in Vihiga county by January next year.

Deputy party leader and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi said ODM has established fully-operational offices in the 25 wards to coordinate the ongoing recruitment exercise.

The drive aims at re-energising the Orange movement ahead of the 2027 general election and requires new members to be registered voters in their respective areas.

“This recruitment marks the official kick-off of our 2027 journey. Every member we bring on board now must be counted both on paper and at the ballot,” Osotsi told ODM delegates at the Vihiga Friends Resource Centre on Saturday.

“To strengthen our movement, I have brought membership recruitment booklets. Our target is clear—we shall not only achieve it but surpass it,” he noted.

Osotsi urged the newly elected grassroots officials to spearhead the recruitment exercise, promising their efforts would be rewarded.

“Those who successfully deliver will be personally rewarded by Baba Raila Odinga himself,”

“Let us penetrate every village and home to ensure that ODM remains the political home of choice for Vihiga residents,” he told the delegates.

The county will celebrate its edition of the ODM@20 on September 27 in Hamisi subcounty, which will help position Vihiga as the party’s bastion ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Vihiga is an ODM zone and it is our duty to safeguard it from infiltration by other parties. The celebrations will heighten our momentum as we march to Mombasa in October,” Osotsi said.

The party will commemorate its role in championing multi-party democracy, ushering in of the 2010 constitution, entrenching devolution and protecting human rights.

“The ODM story is the story of Kenya’s democratic resilience. Our journey is written in the sacrifices of those who came before us and our responsibility is to carry this torch forward,” Osotsi said.
