Some 215 students at Chesamisi High School in Bungoma county spent the night in the cold after their dormitory was razed by fire on Sunday night.

According to the Institution's principal Christopher Serem, the incident occurred while the students were still in class.

“All students were still in for preps and we thank God no student was hurt in the shocking incident," Serem said.

“Currently we require well-wishers to step in and help our learners acquire some crucial items they need while in school,” he said, adding that the dormitory was seriously damaged and it required some repairs.

However, Serem reported that the investigations have been launched into the matter.

“We cannot tell if the fire was caused by an electrical fault or arson, the investigating agencies have taken up the matter,” he added.
