Thousands of Tiriki boys are expected to graduate to manhood this week after a long month of circumcision rites.
The passing out will be today in Kaptek and Saturday in Shiru, both in Vihiga county.
Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has been invited to toda’s event and several leaders and politicians are expected to attend.
A press release from Vihiga Senator George Khaniri’s office said Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula and Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli will also attend the function.
The circumcised boys were secluded from their families and neighbours for a month in the 58 places set up in various forests in Hamisi subcounty.
The Tiriki customary circumcision group chairman Thomas Ingara said the climax of all the events will be at Shiru grounds, a place considered the original homeland of the Tiriki.
He told the Star all the initiates will attend today’s and Saturday’s events before returning to their respective places in the forests, commonly referred to as ‘idumi’ and then cleared to return to their homes on Sunday.
“There will be dancing with traditional Tiriki songs being sang as the initiates are cleansed, ready to join the public in their villages,” Ingara said.
The traditional circumcision took place from late July to August 7.
