Nandi leaders have praised President William Ruto for development projects in the county saying the investments are transforming lives and strengthening support for the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The leaders said the government is implementing major infrastructure and public service projects worth more than Sh6 billion across the county.
Nandi Woman Representative Cynthia Muge and Emgwen MP Josses Lelmengit said Ruto has ensured that all parts of the country are benefitting from government development programmes.
Lelmengit said the ongoing projects include the tarmacking of roads, construction of a major market in Kapsabet, the planned establishment of a medical college, expansion of hospitals and construction of the Kipchoge Stadium.
"All these projects are meant to better the lives of our people and are a clear indication that Ruto is keen to ensure that Kenyans get the best in terms of services and development projects," Lelmengit said.
The leaders spoke during a church service at ACK St Peter's Kamarargui. The service was attended by former Cabinet secretary Moses Kuria and several MCAs.
Muge, who is eyeing the Nandi governorship, said Ruto's
development record justifies his bid for a second term.
She said previous presidents have served for two terms and urged Kenyans to re-elect Ruto so he can complete the development projects initiated during his administration.
Lelmengit said he had played his part by mobilising resources for development projects in the constituency and deserved another term in office.
"I have pushed hard to ensure that we get funding for roads, a medical college and other projects which are ongoing. If that is not work, then I wonder what kind of MP you need," he said.
He also backed Ruto's re-election bid and criticised the President's opponents, saying they lacked a development agenda and were instead promoting political and tribal divisions.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is expected to visit the county on Thursday to preside over the launch of new projects, including roads.
Kuria said the recent Ol Kalou by-election results would not affect Ruto's re-election prospects.
"We have had about 10 by-elections and we lost only one. I assure you that Ruto will be re-elected come next year because Kenya is big," Kuria said.
He said the Kenya Kwanza administration had drawn lessons from the by-elections and still had time to address any shortcomings.
Kuria also called for unity among Kenyans, urging leaders to promote cohesion and reject divisive politics.
