The firm’s spokesperson Albert Kiplimo said the company was also targeting to have water catchment points in the Chemase area to have them protected by planting indigenous trees around them.

The mining company has connected piped water to 800 households within the mining area through its CSR department hence the need to protect the springs for sustainable supply.

Kiplimo spoke at St. Thomas and St, Jude Catholic churches in which the Karebe gold mining company helped in their roofing respectively.

The mining firm supplied Steel and iron sheets to the two parishes at the request of the community.

Karebe will boost President William Ruto’s program of turning the country “green” through the injection of 20,000 seedlings, Kiplimo said.

The firm has also entered into a partnership with the Nandi county government to supply drugs and other essentials to health facilities within the gold mining area of Chemase.

Their action in the health department has greatly boosted the county in ensuring that essential drugs are availed on time.

“The company is working with all government departments to support where it can so that the community within our mining area can fend for themselves at ease,” Kiplimo said.

Karebe Mining Company has also taken up the responsibility of maintaining roads, schools constructions and supporting needy children by providing bursaries at the beginning of each year.

Hundreds of needy children are supported by Karebe to go through their secondary education in a comprehensive bursary program.

The program is aimed at ensuring that all children transition to secondary school regardless of their social background.

Kiplimo revealed that the Karebe bursary program targets orphans, children from single parents and those from humble backgrounds in the neighbouring communities.
