A Kingangop man who allegedly hacked his 80-year-old mother to death, surrendered to police and announced he had accomplished his mission on earth.
The 41-year-old man was said to have mental challenges due to abusing bhang for years, Nyandarua North OCPD Francis Mwangi said.
Emotions ran high in Kwa-Soiro village a few kilometers from Njabini trading centre in Kinangop after the panga killing on Saturday.
Hours after his arrest, the suspect was screaming and 'preaching' at the Njabini police station. Police quoted him as saying his earthly mission had been accomplished.
OCPD Mwangi said the old woman was dragged out of her house, then attacked with a panga.
“The suspect and reported the matter to the police station while the woman was rushed to North Kinangop Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival,” he told the Star.
Meanwhile, three people including a newborn baby died along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway following an accident involving a personal car and a trailer.
The mother is admitted in critical condition at the Naivasha subcounty hospital following weekend accident near Marula Farm 10 kilometres from Naivasha town.
The driver was overtaking a fleet of vehicles when he collided head-on with a trailer, killing a male passenger on the spot.
The infant and driver died in hospital. Occupants of the trailer were unharmed.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru said the driver of the personal car was to blame.
“The personal car was overtaking a fleet of vehicles when it rammed into a trailer killing the driver, a male passenger and the five-day minor ."
