• Kajiado County had 2 new cases from the 25 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.

Kajiado County Government released information on Thursday explaining how two new cases of coronavirus came about.

This is after the Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman earlier in the day announced 25 new positive cases of Covid-19 in the country, taking the total tally of infections to 607.

Aman had indicated Kajiado had received two new cases of Covid-19.

County Health CEC Esther Somoire said the two cases were picked from the county’s quarantine facilities in the Namanga border and Kajiado towns.

“A 36 years old male Kenyan veterinary doctor working with the East African Community who had stayed in Arusha for two weeks used panya routes to get entry to Kenya, was arrested at the Isinya roadblock by immigration officers,” Somoire said.

The man was admitted at ACK quarantine facility on May 4 and  his samples were collected on the following day which turned positive.

Somoire said the patient is now admitted at Kajiado County Referral Hospital isolation ward.

She said the second person is a 37-year-old female Kenyan who left the UK  on December 16, 2019, and went to Zanzibar, Tanzania where she stayed for one week before travelling to Kenya.

Somoire said the Kenyan female left Nairobi on January 19 for Zanzibar to carry out research in Ndangoni village, Pemba highlands.

She stayed there up to  May 3 before travelling to Arusha and later to Namanga on May 4 where she was placed on mandatory quarantine.

The samples collected from her on May 5 were confirmed to be positive and has been admitted at the country isolation center.

“We have also isolated the police officers who came in to contact with the 2 cases at the border and the Isinya roadblocks,” said Somoire.
