THE Kajiado county government has promised to allocate funds to complete the stalled multibillion-shilling Kiserian Dam project.

Touring Olekasasi in Ongata Rongai yesterday, Governor David Nkedianye said his government will allocate development funds in phases to complete the water project.

The Kiserian Dam project was funded at Sh1 billion by President Kibaki’s administration about 10 years ago.

It was handed over in 2013 to Ololaisser Water and Sewerage Company.

The contractor wants Sh800 million to complete the work and make the water safe for domestic and farm use.

“We will complete this project to solve water crisis in this area,” Nkedianye said.

He said the first phase of the project will cover Ongata Rongai, Kiserian, Matasia and Ngong towns.

Ongata Rongai MCA Mwathi Pere urged the county government to hasten the project and stop water shortages, poor sewerage system and garbage collection and disposal hitches.
