A 27-year-old man is being held by police in Kisumu for allegedly hacking his father to death within the Nyakach sub-county.

The deceased was about 67 years old.

According to South West Nyakach Chief David Onyisi, the deceased came home drunk and demanded food, a move that was objected to by his father.

Onyisi said the deceased then waylaid the father when he went to tend to the animals and hit him on his back before hacking him on the neck.

Onyis said the incident was reported to him by his assistant chief.

"We rushed to the scene and found the deceased lying in a pull of blood. We then called the DCIO who also visited the scene.

"Onyisi added that already, the suspect had been beaten up by locals and taken to the Maraboi police post."

"The investigating officers later took the boy to Pap Onditi police station for further interrogations, "he said.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Nyabondo morgue.

The chief also took the opportunity to urge parents to always report incidents happening within their household when they suspect something is not right with their children.

"And when they see their son is becoming too much or getting involved in drugs, they should bring them forward so that we can speak to them in one way or another to avoid such incidents like this witnessed here."
