Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua arriving at the Holy family Basilica minor for a thanksgiving service for the disciplined forces and their families on Sunday, November 6, 2022

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again emphasised the importance of a family setup.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service for Uniformed Disciplined Services at Holy Family Minor Basilica, he said the family is an important ingredient in one's life.

"When things don't go your way. When life becomes difficult. When everybody else moves to the other side, family will always be there for you," Gachagua said.

The DP said the security officers should take care of their families and not transfer their work commands to their homes.

"Take care of your families and don't transfer your commands to your house. It will not work. It will only create problems.

"Don't try to run your home the way you would run a police station because there will be resistance. Leave your command on your doorstep," he said.

Gachagua said the work of uniformed officers requires a lot of support from families.

"I want to thank the families of our officers for the moral support and encouragement to their spouses," he said.

The DP reminisced about when he was once an officer in uniform and how his family was his pillar and it made his work easier.

"So the families that are here today and the rest of the country, we want to thank you for supporting our officers," he said.
