Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo has expressed his commitment to resolving the ongoing rift with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) who have threatened to impeach him.

Speaking during a public rally in the county, Guyo stated that he would engage with the MCAs directly in order to find common ground and ensure the smooth progress of the county’s development agenda.

“These are good people, and they mean well for Isiolo. It’s just that some external forces may have incited them,” Guyo said, referring to the Ward Reps who have pushed for his removal from office.

He emphasised that he was not interested in seeing the county’s progress derailed by an impeachment process.

“I will reach out to them, and we will have a sit-down to discuss and find a way forward. We do not want Isiolo to come to a standstill,” Guyo added, reiterating his focus on the county’s development.

The governor’s remarks come as the County Assembly set to debate an impeachment motion against him.

The motion, tabled by Sericho Ward MCA Abubakar Godana, alleges several charges against Guyo, including abuse of office, gross misconduct, and financial mismanagement.

The heated debate on the motion had been scheduled for June 17, 2025 but the High Court in Isiolo temporarily halted the impeachment proceedings against Guyo.

Justice Nyaga Heston Mbogo issued a conservatory order on Monday, restraining the County Assembly and its members from processing or debating the impeachment motion until the case filed by Guyo is heard and determined.

“I am satisfied that the applicant has made out a case that warrants the grant of the relief sought,” ruled Justice Mbogo.

“Pending the hearing and determination of this application inter parties, a conservatory order is hereby issued restraining, barring, and or preventing the respondents from admitting, processing, debating, or considering the Notice of Motion dated June 10, 2025.”

The impeachment motion had been tabled on June 9 by Sericho Ward MCA Abubakar Godana, with a heated debate scheduled for Tuesday, June 17.
