UDA leaders urge Kitui to support Ruto re-election

Three UDA-affiliated Members of Parliament from Kitui County have urged residents to support President William Ruto's re-election, saying his administration has delivered unprecedented development in the region.

Kitui South MP Rachel Nyamai, Mwingi West's Charles Nguna and Kitui East's Nimrod Mbai said a second term for Ruto would guarantee the completion of ongoing projects and the implementation of new ones across Kitui county and the wider Ukambani region.

The leaders said the Kenya Kwanza administration has invested heavily in roads, electricity connectivity, water infrastructure and modern markets.

They spoke during a public rally at Nuu Market hosted by former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu. During the event, Mutambu presented Sh500,000 in cheques to support 50 women's groups.

Nyamai said the government had expanded access to water and electricity and upgraded key roads across the county.

"President Ruto loves Kitui and its people. He has ensured the county is not left behind in development, and we are already witnessing major projects. The best way to appreciate him is by re-electing him," she said.

She said seven roads, including the Nguni-Nuu Road, are being upgraded to bitumen standards under the national government's infrastructure programme.

Nyamai also said the long-stalled Enziu Bridge project was revived after appeals to the President by Joe Mutambu.

"The President listened and directed that the projects be revived. We are confident the Enziu Bridge will soon be completed," she said.

The MP said the bridge is expected to be completed within two months, helping prevent the loss of lives often caused by flooding at the Enziu crossing.

She added that several modern markets have been constructed in the county and that 50 young people had benefited from Sh1.04 million through the Nyota programme.

Nyamai urged residents to support President Ruto and UDA candidates in the 2027 General Election to sustain development.

Nguna called on voters to judge leaders based on their performance rather than political affiliation, arguing that the President's development record had strengthened his re-election prospects.

Mbai concurred, saying ongoing projects across Kitui and the wider Ukambani region had earned the President growing support.

Also present at the rally were Kitui speaker Kevin Katisya, Presidential Economic Adviser Moses Banda, Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Patrick Mbangula and State House Director of Presidential Events Boniface Musambi.
