Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo swapped three County Executive Committee Members (CECs) and dropped one in a reorganisation aimed at enhancing service delivery to residents.
The shake-up affected Deputy Governor James Lowasa who is a medical doctor who reportedly assumes the Education, Youth and Sports docket, having been moved from the health department.
In an exercise that saw a Chief Officer in the Trade department Lucy Kaburu being promoted to take up the Health docket left by Dr Luwasa, Governor Guyo said service delivery was the main cause for him instituting the reshuffle.
In a statement read by Communications Coordinator Hussein Salesa, the Governor moved Dr Lawrence Mwongela to Finance and Economic Planning, swapping places with Abdulahi Banticha who now takes up the Trade and Revenue department.
Eileen Kajuju whose Education docket was taken by Dr Lowasa was not allocated other duties.
Agriculture and Livestock executives Yusuf Mohamed, Yusuf Dahir (Lands) and Wario Sarite (Water) were not affected by the reshuffle.
The new health CEC awaits vetting by the County Assembly next week amid the ongoing strike by clinicians, nurses, and laboratory technologists who downed their tools on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, paralysing operations at public health institutions including Isiolo County Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The medics are protesting the failure of the county to pay salaries on time and the lack of remitting deductions which deny them services from statutory institutions including health and loans.
